Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes sometimes breaks hearts, especially when seen through adult eyes. Calvin and Hobbes celebrates childhood imagination via six-year-old Calvin's hyperactive inner world. His exuberant charisma fuels his constant defiance against his teacher Miss Wormwood and his classmate Susie Derkins, but his outlandish antics spring from pure boyhood innocence instead of malice. Calvin builds bizarre snowmen sculptures that shock his parents, or he zooms down steep hills on his red wagon while he debates deep philosophical questions with his stuffed tiger.
